If you are in currently employed as a teacher (either pre-school, primary OR secondary), there are excellent job prospects for you in Australia at present. All of these types of teachers are included on Australia’s Skilled Occupation’s List (SOL), which generally means that teachers are in short supply across the whole of Australia. The SOL is the Australian Government’s tool for selecting the skilled people that they require to fill their skill shortages across the country.
Job prospects for UK qualified teachers with post qualification experience of at least 3 years are excellent at the moment and we at Australian Migration Associates Ltd are currently handling applications for a number of clients who are qualified teachers, both primary and secondary. If you are under 30 years of age and have worked as a teacher for the last 3 years, then you would very likely to achieve the current skilled independent pass mark. Alternatively, if you are over 30 years of age but under 45 and have close relatives in Australia to sponsor your application, you could be potentially eligible under the Skilled Sponsored visa category.
UK qualified teachers will be required to obtain registration with the relevant State Education board in the State in which they intend to live and work. For UK qualified teachers this is a fairly straight forward procedure which is rather like the registration process undertaken with the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) here in the UK.
